A SECURITY guard managed to prevent his cash box being stolen by hitting the wannabe robber with it.

The suspect ran towards Altyre Road after being hit on the head outside the Co-Op in Upper Elmers End, Beckenham, at 11.38am on Thursday (May 21).

He is described as being Asian and around 19-years-old.
